Spotlight on Kristin Hersh

Kristin Hersh's band, Throwing Muses, were the first American band signed to the prestigious British label 4AD Records. Throwing Muses created a fascinating original body of work that was at times delicate and melodic, and at times bone-crushingly angular and disjointed. Like many great bands, Throwing Muses' commercial success never matched their influence and impact, and they disbanded in 1997. Kristin's solo records include the warm and wonderful Hips and Makers, Strange Angels, and the fascinatingly morbid collection of Appalachian folk songs Murder, Misery and Then Goodnight. As an artist who's shared her unique musical vision, we asked Kristin what muses sing to her.
