Revu, Issue 21 1995 20 Questions to Kristin Hersh 1. What's the first thing you do when you wake up? I get out of bed and start looking for an apple. 2. What's the first concert you visited? Peter Frampton, when I was 11 years old 3. Plugged or Unplugged? Plugged. That feels much better. I played electric since I
was a kid. And what's more: when I play plugged on stage there are always a
lot of friends around me That I sing in an intellectual band. I don't like people calling the Muses that. Perhaps I am smart, but that's nobody else's business. 5. What's the most horrible truth ever told about you? Perhaps that I am smart. 6. What is the biggest mistake you ever made? Not going to med school. I wanted to be a doctor. I told you I was smart! 7. What's the best advice ever given to you? When Michael Stipe told us to make records as cheap as possible, and to keep the rest of the money ourselves. 8. What's your most precious possession? My engagement ring. 9. When was the last time you cried? Not so long ago, in the plane, when I was watching a silent movie. Tears run abundantly every time I see kids of my son's age (9) in a movie. 10. How are you when you are drunk? Very cute. 11. Describe yourself in three words. Sex, babies and rock 'n' roll. 12. What's your best characteristic? Depends on how you look at it. I am cheerful and laugh a lot. Some people like that, others think it's boring. 13. Do you believe in God? I was raised by ex-Baptists, so they didn't tell me very much about the man God. I think I believe in Him, but not in the religion. I primarily believe in myself: in sex, babies and rock 'n' roll. 14. What's your greatest fear? Getting bored. That's why I work so hard. 15. What other ambitions do you have? I hope to get a moment of peace in my life. 16. Who is your best friend? Hmmmm. Perhaps my husband, Billy, perhaps my drummer, David. Can't I have both? 17. Who would you like to meet? I've never met a queen before. We don't have such a thing here in America. You've got one, perhaps we can work something out? 18. Looking in a mirror, do you like what you see? Yes, I think I'm rather attractive. 19. What music do you want to have played at your funeral? The Latin Playboys. That's modern Mexican folk. Very lively. 20. Do you have anything to add to this? No, thank you. You're calling me in Texas and it may be evening at your place, but it's still very early in the morning here. I just got out of bed. I'm going to search for an apple!
